Austin Walsh Studio recently traveled to Miami to shoot for one of our clients, a pump company called Grundfos. The shoot involved some super long roads, the Everglades, a tropical storm, a bit of sea-sickness, a trip to the world’s best fresh fruit stand, a golf cart with strobes hanging off of it, some dead fish, a stop by La Sandwicherie and finally a midnight run to Club Deuce amongst other things. Can’t wait to share the images when we can. Here is a spackling of some things we got to see.

We got caught in a pretty gnarly storm on a larger size fishing boat off the coast of Miami. Austin and I heard the captain chattering on the walkie talkie with one of the other boats we were out with. “What’s the forecast like out there?” and the other captain replied “Shit.” I’d never been in a smaller tropical storm before but it was pretty unnerving at times, swaying back and forth so much, feeling like you are going to tip right over.

My view from the other boat’s top deck where we were battled tropical force winds to try and make sure a of couple beauty dishes that were mounted didn’t get blown away. Think we managed to bust a couple soft boxes around that point in the storm as well. At one point I looked over and saw a seagull-eque bird trying his hardest to fight the wind in mid-flight but he was just hovering.
We headed back into shore after a bunch of the folks got sea sick and finally had to get the shot by shooting it closer to land. Looking back on it, it was one of the funnest shoots I’ve had the pleasure of working on. The final images look great and I will post a link to our blog when the images get released.

Shooting in the Everglades. This was our grip vehicle, our shooting vehicle and our all around transportation while we shot on the longest, straightest road we had ever seen.

The sweetest ass fruit stand I have ever seen. I think it was called “Robert Is Here”.

3 weeks ago I traveled just outside of San Francisco to a smaller city called Livermor, CA with T2 Productions. We were gone for 4 days and I was asked to shoot B Camera and direct photography. We shot at a place called Camp Wonder, which was nestled deep in the hillside of California. The camp was a place for young kids up to the age of 16 who had skin illnesses. The end client was Cetaphil, a huge producer of skin treatment products. Our mission was to document the last 4 days of the week long camp for a new web campaign, motion and still library for Cetaphil and InTouch Solutions. I’ll post links to the material I worked on when it gets released in the next few months hopefully.
I didn’t have much time to take snaps with my phone on while at the camp since I was so busy trying to keep up with the kids, but here is what else I saw until I can post more.
